The Customer

In addition to STULZ, two parties were involved in this project. First of all, the installer, Saphira Installatiebedrijf from Heerhugowaard. Saphira is a total installer with a focus on heating and heat pumps. Saphira is the preferred installer of the end-user.

The end-user is tent rental company ‘t Hekeltje. This company specializes in building tents with and without climate systems for events, festivals and markets. Test and vaccination locations of the GGD are one of their new specializations.

The main and first requirement set by the end-user was that the required installation for the cooling and heating of the test and vaccination location had to be simple and flexible. The location of the tent is not fixed, which is why it is important that both the tent and the climate installation can be easily moved between different locations without the need for a cooling technician. That is why it was important that the climate solution does not had to do with the F-Gas regulation and that the end-user could relocate and reconnect the climate installation himself.

Secondly, the electrical schemes of the units had to be taken into account, since they needed some additional thoughts. The units must be ready for transport at any time. Furthermore, the systems sometimes have an interrupted or unstable power supply due to the use of energy generators. A solution had to be devised to minimize damage to the systems due to the power supply.

Furthermore, the additional requirements of the end-user were that a simple controller was present and in addition, the total climate installation had to have a minimum capacity of 10 kW so that calculations could be carried out easily.

The chosen heat pump that is used for both cooling and heating is the SAS 138 RS2 from S-Klima with included controller. In addition, the installation included fan coil indoor units. A total of ten units of both the indoor and outdoor units were supplied. The SAS 138 RS2 heat pumps are water-sided and provide high efficiency for cooling and heating. In addition, the heat pumps are very efficient and have an A++ energy label. The chosen fan coil unit is a 10 kW unit. Because the outdoor unit is slightly larger, full power can be supplied even at a temperature of -10 °C. The factory-fitted three-way valve ensures that the water is heated up first in the system at a cold start-up (for example at an indoor temperature of 10 °C) before the system switches to heating the tent. In this way, the capacity of the heat pumps is used correctly and you do not lose it directly to the indoor air. This is made possible in part by an additional thermostat.

In order to offer the installer a helping hand, STULZ has contributed to the electrical schemes of the air-conditioning installation and adapted it for a customized solution. This served as an extra service to make the installation work optimally and to easily find any possible faults in a few years' time. The STULZ phase monitor is used for the aforementioned unstable power supply. This phase monitor switches the units off when the power supply becomes too poor. In this way, any damage to the systems can be prevented. The STULZ phase monitor is a frequently used product in data centres and of proven high quality.

To ensure that the climate installations are easy to commission for the installer, the installer in question paid a visit to the STULZ workshop in Amstelveen to jointly set up the unit(s) with our experts and to see what challenges could emerge. This process was repeated once on location at a second unit under the guidance of STULZ, so that the installer can be sure that everything is set up correctly and is working efficiently. As mentioned, the units can then be easily moved, disconnected and connected without having to set them up all over again.

This project can rightly be called a custom-made solution. The energy-efficient SAS heat pumps for cooling and heating are extremely suitable for controlling the temperature at the test and vaccination locations of the GGD. The ROI of these climate installations lies in the fact that the units only have to be put into operation once. The intensive cooperation between Saphira and STULZ has paid off in a great climate solution that both parties can be proud of.

SAS Heat pumps

Heatpumps and chillers from S-Klima can be used wherever maximum efficiency and optimum reliability are desired. This applies, for example, to offices and hotels, but also to commercial and industrial projects and public buildings such as hospitals.
